Terms of Service

Template. This document is a starting point and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it reviewed before you rely on it. Last updated July 2026.

These terms govern your use of DC Copilot (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.

The Service

DC Copilot is a research and design-assistance tool. It reviews building designs against published design standards and returns findings, each citing a clause from the source standard. It is not a certifier: its output is not a compliance certificate, statutory approval, or professional advice, and it does not replace a qualified assessor’s review or sign-off. You remain responsible for all compliance decisions.

Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. You must provide accurate information and be authorised to upload any drawings you submit.

Credits & payment

  • The Service runs on prepaid credits. Credits are consumed when the AI reads your drawings.
  • Purchased credits do not expire and are non-transferable.
  • Except where required by law (including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993), purchases are non-refundable. Complimentary credits have no cash value.
  • Prices may change; changes do not affect credits already purchased.

Acceptable use

  • Don’t misuse the Service, attempt to break its security, or use it to break the law.
  • Don’t upload content you have no right to submit.
  • Don’t present the Service’s output as a certification or as a substitute for professional judgement.

Intellectual property

The Service, its engine, and its curated requirement libraries are owned by us. Drawings and project data you upload remain yours; you grant us the limited licence needed to process them and provide the Service. Referenced standards remain the property of their publishers — see the Licensing & sources note.

Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that findings are complete or error-free. Standards change and readings can be imperfect — always verify against the source.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid for credits in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in-app. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
